“Beth Brake has been my personal trainer since November 2001. At the time I first started seeing Beth, I had just gotten engaged and wanted to firm and tone my body before my wedding. I had always exercised (ie. walking, treadmill, aerobics classes) but I had never worked with weights. Beth developed a customized routine for me, combining both cardio and weights, that helped me shed 5% to 6% of my body fat within the first 6 months. By the time of my wedding at the end of June 2002, I was receiving positive comments from family and friends regarding the muscle lines in my arms, legs and back.
I continued seeing Beth after my wedding and then became pregnant 6 months later. Beth worked with me throughout my entire pregnancy and I credit her for my easy labor. She provided me with yoga videos and on her own time she researched exercises that were appropriate for my condition. She encouraged me to maintain a cardio routine 4 to 5 days a week while working out with her once a week. I believe this routine not only eased my labor, but also helped me shed the 25 lbs. I gained during my pregnancy.
While a lot of people may choose to leave their personal trainer after getting the kind of results I have, I chose to continue working with Beth each week. She does a great job of changing up the exercise routines so I do not get bored and she challenges me with increased weight when she senses that I'm ready. She also has introduced me to balancing exercises, which are great for toning the abs and back. I had a lot of back problems after the birth of my son and Beth has helped me work through these by strengthening the muscles in my back.
